MHIRJ collaborates with the City of Bridgeport to unveil an inclusive playground
The City of Bridgeport just took a big step toward making play more accessible for all children. In a heartwarming partnership with local organizations, including MHIRJ and many other contributors, the city proudly unveiled the Medbrook Children’s Charity Inclusive Playground at The Bridge Sports Complex.
A Shared Vision for Community Impact
What started as a shared dream between Mayor Andrew Lang and his wife, Lisa, is now a colorful, welcoming space where every child can play, explore, and feel included. The idea for this playground was built on the simple notion that every child deserves a place to play. From wheelchair-friendly paths to sensory-friendly features, every detail was carefully chosen to ensure no child feels left out.
“My husband, Mayor Andrew Lang, and I believe the inclusive playground is vital for the Bridgeport community. We appreciate the generous support from MHIRJ and donors such as the Medbrook Children’s Charity, who played a key role in making this $1 million project possible. Our heartfelt thanks go to MHIRJ for their significant contributions to this outstanding initiative,” said Lisa Lang.
The playground features state-of-the-art adaptive equipment that accommodates various physical needs, accessible pathways that ensure mobility for children using wheelchairs or other assistive devices, and sensory-rich elements designed to stimulate and engage children with different sensory preferences.
Why This Initiative Matters to Us
We believe our success as a company is deeply tied to the well-being of the communities we belong to. This project reflects our dedication to innovation, inclusivity, and collaboration.
The grand opening was more than a ceremony; it was a celebration of unity and resilience. Families gathered; smiles were wide, and hearts full, as children explored playground's colorful structures, adaptive swings, and interactive panels. The joy on the children’s faces as they explored the playground said it all.
Legacy for Bridgeport
Bridgeport has set a powerful example by investing in our children and our communities. By aligning with our shared values and embracing compassionate actions, we are collectively paving the way for a brighter future that we all can believe in. Let us celebrate this meaningful achievement and continue to champion initiatives that uplift members of our community. Together, we are not just creating a playground; we are fostering a legacy of inclusivity and joy that will resonate for generations to come.
